8 years. Here is what I’ve learned so far. Marriage is not bliss. At least not in the ignorant way I thought when our love was new. It’s been a discovery of imperfections as the blinders of new love disappear with time. That’s hard. What’s harder is realizing that that growing list, often weaponized when things get heated, can easily become blinders themselves to the love that’s growing. If I had could go back in time to give myself advice on my wedding day, it would be this:

It’s easy to point the finger and ride off in self-righteous glory when a life long commitment hasn’t been made. The challenge & beauty of marriage is to see every flaw in her as a projection of the flaws you’re refusing to see in yourself. When you come to terms with this, you’ll have the map towards marital bliss.
