•FRIDAY, AUGUST 9TH• BACKYARD SERIES IS TEAMING UP WITH TO HOST A JOINT EVENT AT

This event is a Release Party for SSW’s 2019 LIT Issue as well as a Fundraiser for the Blackstone Summer Block Party!

Poets and Writers from this year’s Literature Issue of South Side Weekly will be reading alongside a special selection of featured artists curated by the Backyard Series.
The event will start with an Open Mic hour inviting anyone to the stage! (limited spots|first come first serve)

All proceeds and donations form the event will go directly to the Blackstone Summer Project. We will be collecting new and barely used school supplies to gather resources for the School Drive leading up to the event!

We invite you to join us for a day of fun, food, music, workshops, and more! This event is FREE and for ALL AGES! Working with to offer helmet fittings and safety checks, professional barber for free kids back-to-school cuts, and to bring free school supplies for youths preparing for the new school year.
There will also be a special showcase of performances, including artists from the all-woman produced hip-hop album

The list of Performers, Workshops, Tables, and Sponsors will be announced in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned!!

This event will be preceded by a Back-to-School-Drive, with huge thanks to Porsha James, as well as a Backyard Series open mic fundraiser to gather resources and materials for kids! More to be announced soon!!
