A new, upcycled thrift painting commission just found its forever home! Big thanks to two lovely folks in the West Loop for picking up this one. 💗

It’s my biggest thrift painting to date, coming in at almost 4-foot wide, too, which was both intimidating but also super fun to figure out. 😅

You’ll see the original piece, then my sketched concept, then transitioning to the actual painting. The original scene is very tranquil, and since the commission referenced a previous work of mine, I knew generally what I would do. 🧘‍♂️

I liked the idea of character taking a winter soak in a hot springs, with both steam coming off of them, as well as magic sparkles for lack of a better word. I like the allusion to something mystical with these characters and scenes, like they’re part of nature in a deeper, more magical or spiritual way. ✨

I hope you like the new piece! If you’re looking for one for yourself, check the link in my bio for my current inventory of thrift paintings waiting to be embellished. ✌️
