All Butter'd Up

For many, today is Independence Day.

For me, it’s a moment to reflect.

Freedom wasn’t experienced equally on July 4, 1776. For my ancestors, freedom arrived later—and even then, it came with a continued fight for dignity, justice, and opportunity.

So while many celebrate the Fourth of July, I honor it as the Juneteenth Reprise—a reminder that freedom is something to protect, expand, and extend to everyone.

Today, I’m choosing reflection.
I’m choosing gratitude.
I’m choosing hope.
And I’m choosing to continue caring for myself and my community.

Because self-care is also an act of freedom.
