Update on Asbestos Testing at Fox Shore!
Ms. F successfully secured air quality testing for her unit. With support from JASC and through independent fundraising, her apartment was inspected. Thankfully, no asbestos was found in her unit.
While this is positive news, it does not answer the larger question of whether asbestos contamination spread throughout common areas of the building. As Julie has noted, the construction that disturbed asbestos took place in hallways on multiple floors, and construction debris was transported through shared spaces, including elevators.
No tenant should have to choose between accepting uncertainty about their health and paying out of pocket for answers.
150 households. One week to move their cars, or get towed.
So Ms. Sangas organized. Neighbors sent management and the Alderman dozens of emails and won free resident parking on the entire street. Then she went even further, partnering with the church across the street to secure 30 more parking spaces for residents.
This is not only true leadership, but an example of how a community can come together to support eachother.
