Arches, buttered bricks, and a whole lot of mortar – educational workshops like the Masonry Insight Program, help expose architects to new materials and techniques that give us a better understanding of the work that goes into constructing and engineering architectural designs. All thanks to the Masonry Advisory Council and AIA Illinois who put this event together to help educate and facilitate conversation around the supply, design, quality, environmental impact, and innovation of masonry.

| Secret Gardens |

In 2021, our firm was given the opportunity to submit a competition entry for the On Olive Development in St. Louis where the organizer tasked us to incorporate the need for wellness, nature, and privacy within a small city lot.

Our idea was simple: we wanted to bring the peacefulness of a suburban lifestyle to an urban setting that provides all the conveniences, combining the best of both worlds. We introduced gardens to separate physical spaces where we socialize and sleep. The proposal not only embraced this idea, but also challenged us to push boundaries further while designing on a repetitive city lot.
