My very first news director 😢
Kevin hired me at WSAV in Savannah two weeks after graduating grad school. He saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. He was tough, fair, and extremely loving.
Two moments I’ll never forget.
4 months into my job, my grandma was rushed to the hospital. We didn’t know how bad it was. I knew I needed to be there. I hadn’t earned vacation time yet, not a lot at least. He said, go home, I know she’s your lifeline. I’ll make sure you get paid. He never asked when I was coming back just to keep him informed. That’s something I am eternally grateful to him for.
Summer in Savannah (sweltering heat) I’d come to work wearing a T-shirt because it was so hot. He said I need you dressed for air when you come in. 😂
Again tough, but loving and fair. He’s part of the reason I’ve been able to achieve my dream. For that, I thank you! Rest well, KB.
I hope your family knows how much of a difference you made in the lives of many journalists and citizens of Savannah with you at the helm.
THIS MORNING: We were invited to ride the first dive coaster Six Flags Great America/Hurricane Harbor The Wrath of Rakshasa or The Wrath of Chaka Khan as some like to say 😂
It was definitely a thrill! The newsroom was impressed I didn’t curse 😅
If you love roller coasters check it out! It opens May 31st!
