South Side coalition supports quantum campus 03/07/2026

The PUSH continues!!! Our Coalition of Southeast Side organizations has been speaking out about the former contaminated USX SouthWorks site on the lakefront. The new development that will include PsiQuantum, the Ilinois Microelectronics Park (IQMP), and Advocate Trinity Medical Center has been renamed Quantum Shores by the developer Related Midwest. The Coalition, consisting of the Friends of the Park, the Alliance of the Southeast, ETHOS of South Shore, KECS Block Club Association, the Crossroads Collaborative, local residents, and several other southeast community-based organizations, is seeking an agreement that would provide equitable environmental, economic, and educational benefits to the community. They also support site remediation and clean development, but without resident displacement (like seen around the Obama Presidential Center in Woodlawn).

South Side coalition supports quantum campus Steel is rising once again in South Chicago. The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP), a first-of-its-kind campus for quantum scale-up, is starting to take shape at the former South Works site—more than thirty years after US Steel closed its doors.
