Full circle moments will always humble me.

Today I had the honor of facilitating a board development workshop for the After the Peanut Foundation alongside Dr. Natalie Coleman and an incredible group of leaders. Our focus was clear: shifting from passive support to active contribution. Strong boards don’t just meet, they move the mission forward.

This board is rich in experience & heart. What we strengthened together was structure, clarity, and shared expectations. Strong boards don’t operate on good intentions alone. They operate on accountability & a collective commitment to impact.

Then came the moment that made it personal. One of the board members was once my mentee at my alma mater, NIU. Watching Justin Smith, CSP CHST now serve professionally on a board while I facilitate in this capacity was a powerful reminder of growth, legacy, and the impact of pouring into others.

Dr. Natalie, thank you for the trust. It was a privilege to walk alongside you and your team. I truly believe 2026 will be a remarkable year.
