“Today is WORLD THEATRE DAY. I’m supposed to give a message of celebration, but I must tell you, there is nothing to celebrate. We live in a time when militarization replaces culture. We are about to have more drones than bees on our planet…” Today on #WorldTheatreDay we are honoured to announce the winner of ITI Prize 2026, Nicoleta Esinencu. ✨ Congratulations ✨ Nicoleta Esinencu is a director, author and performer from the Republic of Moldova. Together with the performance collective teatru-spălătorie @teatru_spalatorie, she has been making a significant contribution to the cultural exchange with Eastern Europe for almost 20 years. ➡️ On 10.+11. June, her latest performance, Memory Distortion. After 30 years as an annual storytelling festival, Fillet of Solo is transitioning to a weekly showcase at a new location: Bughouse Theatre, 1910 W Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL

Fillet of Solo Weekly launches on January 11th, with a multi-artist performance, “ Resistance, Part 1: Stories from the Streets “ Sunday January 11th, 2:00pm - 3pm
A timeline of resistance in Chicago, from 1940s to today. Featuring James Anderson, Gay Chisum, Racquel KanDC Jones, Jenny Magnus and Connie Shirakawa.

From helicopters over Evanston, to whistle blowing in Albany Park - plus personal stories of Chicago’s past resistance during 40’s - 70’s. Join us! www.filletofsolo.org
