A brand new pedestrian plaza is coming to Andersonville this summer!

The Elise Malary Plaza on Catalpa Ave is moving forward, with construction expected to begin in June. This new car-free gathering space in the heart of the neighborhood is exactly the kind of investment that makes Andersonville such a special place to live, work, and build community.

Named in honor of Elise Malary—a Black trans woman, community leader, and advocate for inclusivity—the plaza serves as a reminder of the values that help make Andersonville welcoming and vibrant. As we celebrate Pride Month, it's a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the progress that's been made and the work that remains in creating communities where everyone feels seen, supported, and safe.
