Certain filters can occlude the entire IVC. It takes a lot of effort to remove but it can be done!

10+ year old fractured Bard G2 filter with fractured struts in the IVC and one migrated to the lung. Successfully retrieved with snare and forceps. Pulmonary filter fragment also successfully removed. Patient discharged same day.
