This week, A Better Chicago released their second annual State of Our Youth report, examining the challenges and barriers youth in our city and discussing ways Chicago can respond to support their futures. Hundreds of educators, nonprofit and policy leaders attended the March 31 event where the report was discussed in a panel discussion moderated by A Better Chicago Board member and former CPS CEO Dr. Janice Jackson.
One of the most urgent insights from the report is chronic absenteeism—more than 40% of CPS students missed more than 10% of the 2025 school year.
To address this challenge, A Better Chicago recently launched Every Day Counts, an initiative committing at least $10 million over the next five years to help strengthen student attendance.
Congrats to the A Better Chicago team for their leadership and for fostering a community aimed at improving and investing in the lives of youth.
The JT team was proud to work with A Better Chicago on this project, supporting the development of this year’s State of Our Youth report, coordinating media outreach and assisting with event planning/logistics.
Thank you, A Better Chicago, for trusting JTPR as your partner!
