Art + Culture + City (FREE NON-CREDIT COURSE)
Field trip: Logan Center for the Arts (University of Chicago)
****
This is a FREE class (non-credit) taught by Dr. Patricia Nguyen (executive director of Axis Lab) with the Center for Civic Engagement with Northwestern University. This non-credit course will explore Chicago through the public humanities focusing on artists, cultural workers, and organizers in the city. We will take field trips across Chicago including to the National Public Housing Museum, Hyde Park Art Center, and many more to be announced!
As budget cuts have dramatically gutted education, arts, and culture, this course is designed to create a space for students and community members to engage in rich dialogue on collective organizing, public services, and the non-profit industrial complex through site visits across the city! The course includes free readings, which are required for discussion.
