ALA-International Relations

An important update to our Closing General Session.
While our previously announced closing session speaker is no longer able to join us, we're excited to close ALA Annual 2026 with an insightful leadership session, featuring Sam Helmick, ALA President; Maria McCauley, ALA President-elect; Sarah Lamdan, Executive Director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom; and Moderator, Dan Montgomery, ALA Executive Director.
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary and ALA celebrates 150 years, ALA library leaders will discuss the challenges facing access, expression, and the freedom to read—and what it will take to ensure libraries remain pillars of democracy for generations to come.
