How To Avoid Your Business Capital Application from getting ❌ before a human being reads page 2.

Here are the 7 things lenders actually look for — and 3 that kill more applications than bad credit:
✅ 1. Executive Summary — 1 page maximum State the business, the dollar amount you’re requesting, and how you plan to repay it. This is the first page they read. Most people write it last and it shows.
✅ 2. Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR) — must be 1.15 or higher DSCR = Net Operating Income ÷ Total Annual Debt Payments. SBA requires 1.15 minimum. Under that number and your application stops here regardless of everything else.
✅ 3. 2–3 Year Financial Projections — in SBA format Profit & Loss. Balance Sheet. Cash Flow Statement. Month-by-month for Year 1. Quarterly for Years 2 and 3. They need to see that the numbers are real — not optimistic guesses.
