The recent murder has devastated our community and that includes the staff and customers of Touché. This was a heinous act of violence that we detest, and we share the grief for the loss of someone so loved by others. Our hearts are with his family, loved ones and friends.

As for the perpetrator of this crime, we also share the anger that many are feeling. His name is known but we will not repeat it here. Yes, he was employed here as a bartender for about a year, ending in early February of 2023. Yes, he was a former Mr Chicago Leather. Yes, he was involved in the MCL 2026 contest in January.

While this person may have had evident anger issues, we were unaware of any accounts of physical abuse nor of any restraining order issued against him. His popularity and social media following and acceptance into many facets related to the leather and kink communities suggest his violent streak was hidden from the much of the public.

At this time, we have stripped him of his title, removing images and listings of him from our websites and social media. We believe he is guilty of this crime and deserves the full weight of the law in his punishment.

I regret I cannot undo the damage done, but pledge to be open to receiving any concerns regarding events at or anyone associated with Touché. Please speak up when you see me and share those with me. If I am not present, you may always reach me via email at [email protected]

As to what led up to this crime, mental health and emotional issues are certainly part of this tragic story. We urge anyone experiencing thoughts of harming themselves or others to seek help. Our LGBTQ+ and leather/kink community continues to be attacked from without. Hopefully this tragedy can spur us to work together to prevent further violence from within our ranks.
