Since December of 2023, trucks have been forbidden from using I-20 in the work zone from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive in Bossier City, Louisiana, due to safety concerns over the narrowed lane widths on multiple bridges along the interstate.

On May 19, 2026, the Louisiana DOTD announced that the I-20 truck ban is officially lifted, and officials say that “drivers of commercial motor vehicles such as 18-wheelers and school buses are now able to legally drive through the I-20 work zone in Bossier City.”
