In 2024, there were 48,824 su***de-related deaths in the U.S., a 1% decrease from the year before (49,316 in 2023). That matters. Progress matters.

But the reality is, the su***de rate is still 32% higher than it was in 2000. And for young people ages 15–34, su***de remains the second leading cause of death, even as rates begin to decline.

This is why proactive su***de prevention matters.
