Work in progress. I'm exploring mark making and layers on this 24 x 24 inch canvas.

Join me along with artist Dorothy Graden on Thursday, December 7th at the Chicago Cultural Center from 3-4pm. We will both be presenting artist talks as part of the Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists group show, "Later Impressions." I will be sharing my mark-making journey, my explorations combining mixed media with acrylics, and how I achieve surfaces that challenge preconceptions about acrylic paintings.

It was a bit of a "one step forward, two steps back process on completing this painting because I was very particular about how I wanted the final surface to look and feel like wax. "Celestial / Terrestrial" is a good sized painting at 36x36 inches and I am absolutely getting lost in the shades of blue and spaciousness of it while it hangs in my dining room.
