I went to see this last night and really enjoyed it. The energy and emotiveness of the actors kept me engaged with the emotional drama. As well as describing the vagaries of romance, the play also serves as a commentary on jealousy, abuses of power, tyranny, as well as the integrity of refusal, cunning, sabotage, and subterfuge when dealing with arbitrary and capricious dictators (methinks). Closes this weekend in case you want to catch it tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

I actually made it to 10 bookstores this year! That's a record for me. Last year I made it to 5. Few years ago I made it to 7, and I was really trying! Found some things on my wish list and some happy surprises.

Stone Creek Coffee is across the street from the Amtrak train station. I had a special liquid toffee espresso (intense) before getting on the train to come back to Chicago.

I loved Third Coast Provisions. I tried walking in, but I needed a reservation to sit at the bar. It all worked out and I was able to get a reservation for 7:30pm. I had a very enjoyable evening grooving on the tunes and the amazing drinks and food. I had the "Dirty" classic cocktail: "belvedere 'the lake' vodka, olive brine, norden aquavit, whitefish roe." It was delicious and cold. I could have drunk a whole bunch of those (but I had only one this visit). For my entree, I had "Rabbit Raviolo": "rabbit ragu, potato, pleasant ridge reserve, chantrelles, squash." The ravioli was one big round piece. For dessert I had a chocolate tart with cherry sauce and the "One for the Ages" cocktail: "starlight rickhouse rye, kopke 20yr tawny port, licor 43, palo-cortado sherry, aztec chocolate bitters." Loved it all. I feel like I found a really good place.
