Athletes don’t usually lose confidence because they “aren’t strong mentally.”
They lose confidence because their attention shifts from performing → evaluating.
After a mistake, many athletes start thinking:
Am I playing badly?
Is coach frustrated?
What if I mess up again?
This pulls the brain into analysis mode instead of action mode — and performance drops.
The fastest way to rebuild confidence in sport isn’t positive thinking.
It’s choosing one clear, controllable action and executing it.
