I used to be a Boy Scout. The Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared". This is a good addage to live by. Five years ago we were not prepared for Covid. I started BrightBot, an affordable UVC germicidal tower manufacturing company, to give myself and my colleagues in the Emergency Department the ability to protect ourselves against the virus. For the past five years we have been sanitizing rooms after Covid and Influenza patients with a BrightBot UVC germicidal tower. This keeps medical workers, housekeeping staff and patients safer.
Over the past several months, the Federal government has been doing everything possible to reduce our level of preparedness. They have been cutting back on research, surveillance, cancelling vaccination meetings for Influenza planning, cutting back on the ability to have health insurance... The list goes on and on.

It is now up to state and local governments, health organizations and private companies to increase our level of preparedness. Organizations and states can increase preparedness by stockpiling PPE, preparing written procedures for anticipated infectious events and having adequate disinfection equipment on hand to mitigate unforeseen events.
Private manufacturers can provide solutions at a reasonable cost and not always look to maximize profits. BrightBot is trying to be an example in this arena by reducing the cost of our UVC germicidal towers by 50% for any organization fighting a measles outbreak.
If the Federal government is dropping its responsibility to provide services for our citizens, then "We The People" need to step up to keep each other safe.
