Grateful to Jennifer Vollen-Katz at the John Howard Association and Kaitlin Washburn at WBEZ for lifting up this deadly lack of care in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A friend in Logan reports that she has been regularly denied her blood pressure medication for 4 or 5 weeks at a time, putting her at risk of a heart attack or stroke. We hope that the legislature will hold a joint House-Senate subject-matter hearing soon. Thankful for those who have been working toward addressing this.
