Workers in Houston have one of the longest commutes in America due to a lack of infrastructure. In October 2023, the city unveiled the North Post Oak Road Pedestrian Bridge, built with steel hollow structural sections (HSS) and the Shuriken connection system from Atlas Tube.

The new pedestrian bridge crosses 17 lanes of traffic over the massive Katy Freeway, providing a crucial link to neighborhoods for runners, walkers, and cyclists.

"Across the country, we're seeing Shuriken used to simplify many types of complex connections,” says Ted Goldstein, inventor of Shuriken and Structural Engineer with Atlas Tube. “In the case of the Houston bridge project, it made simple field-bolted HSS splices a reality.”
