Springboard Arts Chicago

This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting guests for the opening of A La Française: The French Way. Philippe Berthommier is one of the artists we're happy to present in this latest exhibit. You can see his work on display now through the end of the year.

A Chicago-born sculptor, Jill King looks at topographical images of hurricanes and Hubble Space telescope images for inspiration. Her work highlights the intricacy of the natural world, representing inner growth and transformation.​ She says, "I am a child of the cosmos who often sails into the starry vastness, pulling out forms and colors that embody the shapes and patterns of the galactic universe. My organic sculptures highlight the glory and intricacy of the natural world and represent inner growth and transformation.​"

Dawn Brennan says "My one consistent life goal is to discover the truth about the seen world, and how appearances reveal underlying forces and structures. Whatever ideas I might have in my work, they are understood and expressed through the detail and particularity of the seen world."

Romanian-born artist Andreea Zimbru uses different techniques incorporating oils, collages and graffiti spray paint to achieve a bold effect on the canvas. Her main subject of interest is "related to the quotidian, the daily life, which may seem common but through painting, it presents a new vision of the present, evoking hidden aspects of reality and generating a different perspective of the human existence."
"Picture Day" by .zimbru is a 23.6 × 31.4 ″ mixed media oil on canvas and "Mask Situation I" is a 35 × 35 ″ mixed media oil on canvas.
