This past week, Hope School hosted a Virtual Career Day with Jordan Beckley, a Digital Design Lead at Ford Motor Company!
Jordan shared how a childhood passion for cars led him to a career in automotive design. He explained that while artistic skills are helpful, creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and technology all play a major role in honing his ideas.
The students had lots of questions, including the challenges and rewards of designing cars. Jordan spoke about the difficulty of balancing government regulations, engineering requirements, and input from multiple teams. He also shared turning a concept into a vehicle on the road can take 4-5 years. But one of the most exciting moments of his career? Seeing a vehicle he helped design driving on the road!

Our partner, Las Tias in Nicaragua, is creating opportunities for long-term independence and sustainability through vocational programming. Through hands-on classes in barbering, beauty, sewing, piñata making, carpentry, and baking, participants are gaining practical skills that can lead to self-sufficiency.

These programs, designed and led by Las Tias, equip community members with the tools they need to build an income, confidence, and opportunity for themselves and their families.
