Sunday was my half birthday. Yes, I’ve been a little too busy to post about it until now, but believe it or not I’m telling you this for a legal reason.
Often a lawsuit or other dispute will require phone records showing which numbers you’ve called and when. Your monthly cellphone bills have these records on them and they’re very easy to find and download on your online account. But most carriers only make the last 18 months or so of bills readily available on your account. If you need to go back farther than that – which happens a little more often than you’d think – you’ll have to subpoena your carrier for the records and it’s a major hassle.
It's much easier to take 10 minutes twice a year and download your last six months’ worth of bills, so that you build up your own complete library of records if you ever need them. I like to do mine around my birthday and half birthday because it’s easy to remember. So download your old phone bills today! (Or, you know, on your own half birthday. 😀 )
