Courtney Kemp officially left Starz after more than a decade building the Power franchise to launch her new Netflix crime thriller, Nemesis. Kemp explained that Netflix offered a much larger global audience and a bigger platform for ambitious storytelling on an international scale.

According to Kemp, Nemesis was specifically designed to feel brighter, louder, and more cinematic compared to the darker and more intimate style of Power. The creator wanted a series built for Netflix’s massive worldwide reach and high-energy presentation style.

After premiering on May 13, Nemesis quickly surged through Netflix’s global charts, with viewers already comparing the crime thriller’s action and style to classic films like Heat.
