Wyoming State AFL-CIO

"Our workers have been the one traveling to other states, where the jobs are, spending weeks away from family. These projects have made it possible for our local hires to stay here, to coach Little League, to not miss out on recitals, to sleep in their own beds at night," explains Marcie Kindred, Executive Director for Wyoming's AFL-CIO.
Kindred, however, explains that while the AFL-CIO supports economic development, it shouldn't happen at, quote, "just any cost," as she states, in part, "we need to be asking the right questions. Are the ratepayers protected? Is the environment protected? If all of these things are considered and answered and transparent, then yes, these projects mean high paying jobs."

We’ve been a little busy today — organizing, rallying in Casper, fighting for Wyoming workers. You know, the usual.
But we couldn’t let May Day go by without saying this:
Some people say we already won. That unions had their moment but working people are fine now.
Tell that to the Wyoming worker whose paycheck isn’t keeping up with groceries. Or rent. Or gas.
We work harder every year. The billionaires get richer every year. That’s not an accident — it’s a strategy. And the strategy only works if we stay divided.
We refuse.
May Day was born in America, fought for by workers who bled for the 8-hour day and the weekend. That fight isn’t history. It’s happening right now — in our legislature, in our communities, in our state.
We keep fighting. 💪

Tuesday is Workers Memorial Day — and this year, we’re holding the line.
Join us Tuesday, April 28 at 5:30 PM on the Wyoming State Capitol Steps for our annual ceremony, co-hosted with the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association. We’ll honor the 37 Wyoming workers killed on the job in 2024, and remember Alex “Tuff” Harsha, lost in 2025 — including a moving tribute from his aunt, Jessica Isaacson, and a closing song dedicated to his daughter Paisley.
For over two decades, Wyoming has consistently ranked among the worst states in the nation for workplace fatalities. These are our neighbors, our family members, our fellow Wyomingites. Come stand with us.
