Miss this year’s enrollment?

Unfortunately, if you miss this year’s enrollment you can not enroll in a Marketplace plan until next year unless you have what the industry calls a Qualifying Event. A qualifying event is loss of other coverage or certain changes in life. This includes the loss of a job that provided insurance, marriage, divorce, the birth of a baby (for the baby), aging out of your parents’ plan (turning 26) and others.

Since the Affordable Care Act began there has been an open enrollment period each year. This year it is from November 1st – December 15th. This is the only time any person may enroll in insurance through the Marketplace without a qualifying event.
