These organizations are on the frontlines, providing legal and social services to often-unrepresented migrants in detention, and taking on their cases in immigration court.
1) Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project
https://firrp.org/
Provides free legal services, social services and advocacy to immigrants facing detention and likely deportation. Offers a lifeline to adults and children in immigration detention who, without the right to a public defender, often appear in court alone without an attorney and may be deported back to the unsafe situations they have fled.
2) Immigrant Defenders Law Center
https://www.immdef.org/
A next-generation social justice law firm that defends immigrant communities against injustices in the immigration system. Defends children in immigration court through legal services that include social services designed to meet their basic needs and allow clients to participate in their own defense.
3) National Immigrant Justice Center
https://immigrantjustice.org/
Combines direct legal services, policy reform, impact litigation, and public education to advance immigrant rights and create a more humane immigration system. Works to keep families together, protect migrants from deportation and detention, and help new migrants start a new and safe life in the United States.
Always remember: Action is the antidote to despair. There are so many people who care and are helping.
