Turn back the clock to 1903, Cheviot Marshal Klussman and Cincinnati Police Officer McKay suffered a beating during a confrontation at Charles Orr's saloon, located at the corner of Harrison and Glenmore Aves. the site of the former Wendy's. The trouble began when the recently elected Marshal Klussman noticed the saloon operating past Cheviot's mandatory midnight closing hour on a Saturday night. When Klussman entered to order the establishment closed, Orr physically ejected him onto the street. Outside, the marshal encountered Officer McKay, a local resident, and requested his assistance to arrest the saloon keeper. Upon re-entering, both lawmen were overpowered by Orr and his bartender, who stripped them of their hats, guns, and clubs before tossing one officer out the side door and the other out the front. While the battered officers nursed their wounds ahead of a scheduled hearing before the Cheviot mayor the following morning, the building itself, originally constructed by a brewing company and leased to Orr.
