With Father’s Day approaching, we’re inspired to think of Mary Baker Eddy’s father, Mark Baker. Mr. Baker’s ledger (part of the Longyear Museum collection) and Mary Baker Eddy’s anecdotes about his life speak volumes about his character and care as a loving and supportive father.

If you visit Longyear Museum in Chestnut Hill, Mass., you may notice a recurring cross and crown motif. What is it? The cross and crown seal—emblematic of Christian Science—is featured on the cover of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
The cross and crown window you see here is from the Original Edifice of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. In 1908, Mrs. Eddy requested that the emblem be redesigned. As a result, the window was replaced and is now on view at Longyear Museum. We also sell several cross and crown items in our shop!
