Ever hear of Pike Syndrome?
See, a Pike is a big nasty fish.
Eats up all the little minnows.
Can’t blame it.
Animals aren’t bad.
It’s just their nature.
They eat small fish to survive.
But here’s the thing.
If you take a pike and put it into a tank…
Then put a bunch of tiny minnows in a glass…
And lower the glass into the tank…
Whaddaya think will happen?
The Pike will bash its head into the glass a dozen or so times.
Until it realizes it can’t eat the minnows.
Here’s the fun part.
You can then free the minnows in the tank.
And the pike STILL won’t eat them.
Crazy, right?
It’s been conditioned to think they’re surrounded by a mystical force field and it has no idea it can eat all the food around itself to live a fat, happy, best life ever.
Kinda sad, right?.
(Well, not for the minnows, but still…)
