This weeks storm was one to remember for us. We, like many others, would’ve gladly taken the 20 inches of snow they were calling for. This ice has been such a pain that we didn’t finish battling it till 3 days after. Thanks to everyone who helped out, lended an ear to talk to our plow guys as they drove through day and night, and to our customers who were very understanding to the ice situation that we had. Salt shortage hit us as well as anybody else but luckily our vendor had our back and helped us prepare before hand. He’s a few pictures and videos of some of the work. You can see first hand how the plows were just bouncing off the ice. It felt like a roller coaster inside the cab and hit the headliner a few times.

Some pruning yesterday at our downtown location. Scariest part of this is the people walking by. I’m trying to prune hedges not hair.

So let’s recap this past storm. We went in strong with everything prepared. Well I guess we weren’t prepared enough. Problem one about an hour into plowing our plow blew a hose. How hard is it finding a hose at 2 in the morning? Pretty hard. Luckily, our friends at Wrenn’s Lawn & Landscaping LLC was close by and was able to give us a hand with a new hose. Second issue, the fill port broke on the same plow leaving it useless on a site. Third, one of our trucks decided it was done working and let the brakes pop out of the caliber. Multiple issues left and right but we made it happen. So what did we learn? Carry extra hoses and check everything 4 times. We’ve been hard at work since Sunday taking care of snow and now prepping plows and fixing equipment that we are ready for Friday night. Stay safe out there and be cautious with the plow trucks. Just so you know what we go through we ran with 8 hours of sleep total for a whole 3 1/2 days. We can only imagine what other have done as well.
