Every year I make this post, not to brag but honor my family who’s filled with everyday African American Hero’s who did incredible things & deserve to be recognized. This year feels so different, but I can’t let the month pass any further without honoring my families legacy.
I am the great granddaughter of Mr. William A. Morris, who had HIS OWN moving company! Stop and take a min and think about that, a black man, in 1925 had his own SUCCESSFUL Business! If You’re from Staten Island, NY you may have heard of him, Public School I.S. 61 is Named AFTER HIM! He was a community leader and the FOUNDER and FIRST PRESIDENT of the Staten Island National Association for the Advancement of Colored People aka NAACP!!
I am Proud to be the Great Niece of Ms. Evelyn Morris King, Staten Island you may have heard of her also, Beloved Community Leader and former Staten Island Branch NAACP President, who was honored by having a college campus named after her and who’s presence is truly missed!
I am honored and proud to be the only child of Mr. Carl & Mrs. Etta Jones. My dad rose to be a community leader, a Mason, a father figure to so many young men, who owned and ran a successful business for over 20 years in what many would call “one of the worst areas of Staten Island” because he believed in being accessible to the people he wanted to impact, and who almost bought that whole block, and who received numerous community leader and humanitarian awards. I am humbled and forever grateful for the sacrifices my parents made for me.
I am so proud of my family, the Doctors and the Lawyers, The Teachers and Musicians, My Cousin who has a street named after him. The Fire Fighters And Police Offices, Cousin Sue who is literally a Walking History Book (if you don’t know how amazing she is just google Elizabeth Sue Meaders, Staten Island), and all of my cousins, the everyday hero’s that support each other while still striving for their own success while raising and grooming successful children! I am so proud of my Black History!

A new year always brings shifts in the housing market. If you’re thinking about buying, selling, or just staying informed, here are key trends to watch:
✨Mortgage rates
Rates may move up or down as the economy shifts. Even small changes impact monthly payments and buyer demand.
Buyers: compare loan options early.
Sellers: expect activity to ebb and flow with rate changes.
✨Inventory slowly improving
Housing supply is still tight in many areas, but it’s slowly rebalancing.
Buyers may see a few more options.
Sellers may face a bit more competition and should highlight what makes their home stand out.
✨Suburban and secondary markets
More buyers want space, value, and flexibility. Suburbs and smaller cities continue to attract people, especially remote or hybrid workers.
✨Eco-friendly and energy-efficient homes
Buyers are paying attention to utility costs and sustainability. Homes with upgrades like efficient windows, insulation, solar, or smart thermostats can stand out.
✨Affordability front and center
Creative financing, smaller homes, and more affordable areas stay in demand. Many buyers are watching their budgets closely and taking longer to prepare.
✨Multi-generational living
More families are living together under one roof for financial, caregiving, or lifestyle reasons. Homes with flexible layouts, extra suites, or separate living spaces are in demand.
✨Function and comfort at home
Home offices, outdoor spaces, and smart-home features remain popular. People want homes that fit real life: work, rest, and family time.
The market will keep evolving, but staying aware of these trends can help you make better decisions this year. If you’re thinking about a move or just want local insight on how these trends show up in our market, I’m always happy to talk through it. . .

Your credit score doesn’t have to be perfect to buy a home, it just needs to be understood. 🎄🏡
A lot of buyers underestimate how much flexibility they actually have. Once you know your range and what lenders look for, the path forward gets a whole lot clearer.✨
If you’re thinking about buying, I can connect you with lenders who guide you step-by-step and help you strengthen your score so you’re ready when the right home appears. . .

Whether listed on the market or sold off-market to investors, we can position your home to attract cash buyers who are ready to close quickly—no major fixes required.
Selling as-is can be a smart move, especially if you're looking to save time, reduce stress, and avoid upfront costs. Just keep in mind it may come with trade-offs, like a lower sale price or a smaller buyer pool.
