Mental Health & Juneteenth: Freedom Must Include Healing

As we celebrate Juneteenth, the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans we honor not only our ancestors’ resilience but also our right to heal.

Freedom is more than the absence of chains. It’s the right to feel safe in our minds, to rest without guilt, to break generational cycles, and to say “I need help” without shame.

Mental health is still a taboo topic in many Black communities, but healing is revolutionary. Therapy, community support, breathwork, rest, joy all of these are acts of resistance and liberation.

This Juneteenth, let’s remember:
-We are worthy of rest.
-We are allowed to feel.
-We deserve support.
-Our healing honors our ancestors.

Freedom looks like mental wellness too.
