But sometimes the simplest gestures of kindness and caring are what make the biggest difference to people: a warm smile, looking deeply into someone’s eyes and really ‘seeing’ them, intently listening, or even a simple greeting to acknowledge them. This is part of both the ‘art’ and the ‘science’ of nursing.
