Helping Our Community

Our friends at Oasis Social Ministry are in need of some help with their mission across Hampton Roads.

They run an amazing program with a soup kitchen, food pantry, clothes closet, and hygiene kits for people who are unhoused, and other marginalized communities in need. The demand for their program is skyrocketing.

From January 1st 2026 to March 28th 2026 their Oasis Client Choice Pantry, served 1,004 households, reaching 12,716 individuals with 58,509 meals!
32% are children
49% are adults (18–59)
18% are seniors (60+)

If you want to help you can:

-Donate items (such as non-perishable food, clothes, hygiene items, and pet food (yes, they help pets in need too)! to Beagles to the Rescue's 2 locations in Chesapeake or Norfolk or directly to Oasis (see links below for addresses and more information). BTTR will be collecting donations until May 1st please make sure any food items you donate are not expired and in usable condition (not opened, damaged etc) see their wish list for what they need most. BTTR can take open bags of pet food for use at the rescue.

-Donate directly to Oasis online or via text to help your neighbors in need: (See Oasis link below) They use your donation to buy exactly what they need in bulk!

-Volunteer your time: check out the Oasis website for more information about volunteering or ask BTTR about helping to transport items to Oasis!

Update 4/24/26 Adoption Pending!

Meet Charlie Brown! Charlie is a cute little neutered male beagle, around 9 years old available for adoption in Chesapeake, VA (adoption area is within 1.5 hours of 23322). Charlie is a short and stocky guy and is currently a little overweight at 25lbs.

Charlie is a super sweet cuddly boy; he just wants to climb up in your lap for a snuggle. He loves having his back scratched, going for walks/adventures, every person he meets, and of course food! Charlie gets along with just about everyone, he has previously lived well with young children, cats, chickens, and other dogs of varying sizes.

Charlie was surrendered to BTTR when his family was preparing to move. Charlie was also attacked by the neighbor’s dog (see the scars on his face) and they were concerned for his safety since the neighbor’s dog often dug under the fence into their backyard. Charlie has fully recovered and still seems to love all dogs and people. Charlie walks really well on a leash, appears housebroken, and has great basic house manors.

Charlie is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines (rabies/parvo/distemper/lepto/bordetella), heartworm/tick borne illness negative, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Charlie loves to be outside and would love a home where he could go for walks and have a fenced in yard to sniff and explore. Like many beagles he is a medium energy dog and is not the best fit for an apartment and cannot be let off leash without wandering off. Charlie would do best in a home with another dog as a companion, as he is working through some minor separation anxiety.

BTTR offers a trail period for all our adoptions to make sure we are the right fit! If you are interested in learning more about Charlie give us a call at 757-447-7773 or check out our website at

This consider Cliff's! Since I always "close for intake" then take about 20 more i need your help 😅

We take anyone we can. Usually the medically needy, the heartworm positive pups, the "lumpy and bumpy" pups. The elderly, the hurt, etc. The ones who will or have been overlooked. Thats who I want because thats who needs US!

As of 12/1 our vet bill is over $7,000. We have 6 heartworm positive dogs and (4 with pending tests), 4 pending spay and neuter, one with a healing broken leg requiring continued x rays, one with a reoccurring mass in the mouth, the list goes on and on and on. Please help us get this bill WAY down so we can start the new year fresh
