Running alongside people of all experience levels is always motivating and inspiring to me. I love hearing their stories, why they started running, the goals they’ve accomplished, and the hard work they’ve put in to achieve them. It’s also inspiring to hear about their future goals and the plans they have to keep improving to hit their running goals.

Being a part of SPARC, I’ve had many conversations that allowed me to share my own experiences and successes while also celebrating others’ achievements. Being around people who are always working toward something gives me extra motivation to keep showing up and putting in the work myself.

My big running goal this year is to run a sub-2:40 at the Chicago Marathon later this year. I plan on having a summer of big mileage and quality workouts in the heat. A goal outside of running is to get involved in other competitive and fun sports like pickleball, golf, or maybe some cycling that will give me opportunities to be social and connect with different people.

The best advice I’ve received as a runner is to just have fun. Running isn’t my job or something I am relying on to pay bills so I try to enjoy the process. Let it be fun and not something that stresses you out because the workouts or race times didn’t go as planned. Be happy you get to run and push yourself. Don’t let it be something that’s stressful or hurting your mental well-being.

After the last few days of crazy, it felt nice get back on the C’MONDAY grind.
