“A Tribute to African American Women”
This painting was created in 2005 by Soraida Martinez to pay respect to the African American women who supported her Verdadism Art and inspired her to continue painting and writing about the injustice in American society. Kudos to Reneé the African American engineer owner of this original painting.
“A Tribute to African American Women: Throughout my art career many professional African American women have helped me by exhibiting my art in places that normally would not accept my art…because of the statements that I make against racism, sexism, and stereotyping. That's why I felt that I had to paint about this very positive female experience. These African American women not only supported me; they also inspired me to continue my Verdadism.”

Enjoy the Superbowl and the Bad Bunny halftime show. Doesn’t get more American than that.

Social Commentary for The Great Invisible Wall of Hate:
“I have always felt that this country had an invisible wall of exclusion.
When I first heard about Trump's wall to keep immigrants out, I realized that this country was about to change. The symbolic wall of hate was out in the open. Trump's wall is a physical wall of hate. This intolerance has been around since the beginning of time. America was built on cruelty, slavery and intolerance. I cannot believe that so many Americans are surprised by the racism of the USA. Americans have been asleep for many decades. They are part of an unjust system, whether they realize it or not. They let it happen. Systemic injustice is real. We must take an active part in this society to make real change. Protesting and then going back to your office the next day is not making a plan on how to make social change. This passive behavior will not change the world we live in.”
