Despite the rain, the weather didn’t keep anyone away from the annual Cheektowaga Police PBA Clambake—a true sign that summer has arrived in our community! It was great to see so many friends, neighbors, and supporters come out to enjoy this long-standing Cheektowaga tradition. Thank you to the Cheektowaga Police PBA and all the volunteers who helped make another successful event possible. 🇺🇸☀️👮♂️

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received the news of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we celebrate the anniversary of the effective end of slavery in the United States, and honor the freedoms now enjoyed by all American citizens, while committing ourselves to improving the quality of life for all those we serve. Assembly and state government offices will be closed today in observance. Happy Juneteenth!

Pleased to attend the Depew Union Free School District Board meeting the other night to recognize two of the winners of the American 250 Poster contest I sponsored earlier this year! Congratulations to 1st place winner Reanna Robidoux and 3rd place winner Gabriel Toner, both of Depew High School.
Many of my colleagues in both the Assembly and Senate commented on the quality and impact of the message of these posters while they were on display outside my office in the Legislative Office Building! What a great way to start celebrating the 250th anniversary of our independence!

Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to our Cheektowaga Community Blood Drive at the Cleveland Hill Fire Hall.
With the urgent need for blood donations, our community stepped up and answered the call. Every donation has the power to save lives, and I’m grateful to each person who took the time to give. If you would like to donate blood and didn't have a chance to, visit the red cross website.
A special thank you to the American Red Cross of Western New York, Cleveland Hill Fire Hall and everyone who helped make this event possible.
This is what Westen New York does best, neighbors helping neighbors when it matters most.
I am very pleased and proud that the work we did to assist and support Pyramid Management Group’s efforts to maintain their stewardship of the Walden Galleria Mall has paid off with the announcement of IKEA coming to our community!
Walden Galleria is an important economic engine in our community, and attracting an iconic brand like Ikea bolsters its position as one of the premier shopping, retail, and entertainment destinations in the northeast. Listen to my clip 📻 from a recent interview on WBEN.

The need for blood is urgent, and Cheektowaga has an opportunity to help.
I’m hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive this Wednesday at the Cleveland Hill Fire Hall. With the available blood supply down 20%, every donation can make a real difference.

Many may not realize that a small historic cemetery near the Buffalo Airport is the final resting place of hundreds of American and British soldiers who died from wounds and disease during the War of 1812.
Today’s annual Cheektowaga War of 1812 Commemoration Ceremony serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices made in defense of our nation more than 200 years ago and the importance of preserving our local history.
Thank you to Cheektowaga Councilwoman Barb Bakowski for organizing this meaningful event, and to our local American Legion and VFW posts for their continued dedication to honoring those who served and ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.

🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸
On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress adopted the first official American flag, declaring that “the flag of the United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars of white on a blue field.”
Today, we proudly honor the Stars and Stripes—a symbol of freedom, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of our nation. God Bless America!

Last night, I had the honor of attending the Cheektowaga Central Middle School Music Department’s Salute to the Heroes Concert.
This special event recognized our veterans while collecting food donations for a local veterans food pantry. Students performed the anthems of each branch of our Armed Forces and shared lessons on the history of our flag and our nation’s independence.
The talented students in both the band and chorus did an outstanding job, and their patriotism and dedication were on full display.
A sincere thank you to Ms. Oswald, Mrs. Santoro, and Mr. Dolan for organizing such a meaningful and patriotic experience for our students and community. Events like these help inspire the next generation to appreciate the sacrifices of those who have served our country.
🇺🇸 Thank you to everyone who made this wonderful evening possible!
