The irises are just getting started, the azaleas are going strong, and the tulips gave their curtain call today at the arboretum. What a glorious day!

It was unbelievable out there today. So grateful for the care of all who tend the gardens.

Happy Arbor Day! I'm savoring some of my favorites while the rain is greening things up here today. I've become such a fan of the trees, enjoying each of their stages. Here's a fun fact I picked up somewhere along the way: in the early spring, some of the trees and shrubs give you a hint of the color they'll be in the fall before they turn green for the summer. It's a little sneak preview.

A few highlights from the zoo so far this summer. Loving the wildflowers along the treetop trail, the bird show, the cutest piglets, and lots of new life.

Today's visit to Como was spectacular. The plants in and around the water are my favorites. We talked to six different employees and volunteers who clearly loved what they were doing, and couldn't wait to share a little bit (or a lot) of what they knew that was fascinating. This has been happening a lot lately. People know a lot of things, and are generally amazing. If you find yourself feeling cyinical about the world, go ask someone a question about what they are doing. It will make their day and yours, and give you cause for joy and hope.
