I debuted my new act, 'Chrysalis', an homage to Loïe Fuller; at Nirgendwo in Berlin, as part of the Nowhere Nowhere Show series, on August 29, 2024. Loïe was a pioneer of modern dance and innovator of stagecraft, who lived and danced at the turn of the 20th century, circa 1890.

Loïe was the first person to use gel filters to create colored light on stage. She showcased her brilliant inventions by projecting the beautiful, colorful lights onto her flowing, white, silk dress while she danced.

By incorporating both image projection and synchronized LED light programming technology into this piece, in an effort to enrich and intensify its beauty and magic, I hope to create a tribute worthy of Loïe’s incredible legacy.

I feel an extra kinship with Loïe, given my enduring fascination with lighting, spinning in skirts, and since she was also an American expatriate who undertook the adventure of bringing her unique, autodidactic dance across the pond.
