To ensure your cake is perfectly baked, employ a toothpick or cake tester to assess its doneness. Insert the toothpick or tester into the center of the cake; it should emerge clean or with only a few moist crumbs attached.
Some visual cues of cake doneness:
- Observe the edges of the cake; they should be slightly pulled away from the pan, indicating proper baking and easy release.
- For a lighter cake, the top should boast a golden brown hue, while chocolate cakes should exhibit a shiny-matte appearance.

Do you struggle with your cakes sticking to the pan??

Make sure you are using some type of cake release to ensure a hassle-free baking experience and easy cleanup. You may consider lining your baking sheet or pan with parchment paper, applying nonstick spray, or using a homemade cake goop mixture. These preparations create a protective barrier that helps prevent your baked goods from sticking to the pan. This simple step can save you time and effort during both the baking and cleaning processes.

Cake Goop (Homemade Pan Release) Recipe:
You will mix equal parts of flour, vegetable shortening, and vegetable oil.
Ingredients:

-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-1/2 cup vegetable shortening
-1/2 cup vegetable oil
Directions:

In a bowl, combine the flour, vegetable shortening, and vegetable oil.
Mix well until you achieve a smooth, consistent paste. Apply the Cake Goop to your baking pan using a pastry brush or your fingers, ensuring an even coating. This homemade mixture provides an excellent nonstick surface and enhances the release of your baked goods.

In the traditional Creaming Method, adding all dry ingredients at once risks overmixing, potentially leading to uneven texture.
Similarly, pouring all liquid ingredients at once may oversaturate the butter mixture, causing emulsion breakage. Gradually incorporating your dry and wet ingredients ensures better control, even distribution, and a stable emulsion, contributing to the desired texture and structure in baked goods.

Another method you could use it the Reverse Creaming, where your dry ingredients are combined with softened butter first before adding the liquids. This method produces a flatter top cake with a velvety texture. This method is ideal for stacking as it produces a sturdier cake.
