Managing customer demand is all about keeping customers happy. To remain responsive to demand, your business must have a strong process in place to anticipate, validate and then fulfil future demand. Whether your business chooses a “made-to-order” or “made to stock” method, how you manage your operations to most efficiently supply products to your customer is critical. When you expect customers to place a huge order and the demand never materializes, invaluable working capital could become locked up in excess stock. Likewise, if you decide not to invest in inventory and the customer does commit to the order, fulfilling the demand in time could be a real challenge. By adopting a demand management strategy, your company can cost optimize its production, while maximizing customer service levels. UP Community Fund offers capital and resources to help your business manage growing customer demands and needs. We invest in high-impact companies with a mindset for growth and transformation. For the past 28 years, Towanda Scott, CEO of Staffwear Inc, has been in the business of providing not just uniforms but providing clothing for aspiring professionals to actualize their own career pathways. Like many entrepreneurs of color, entrepreneurship has not come at an easy cost, and she has described her journey as one filled with as many failures as successes. Scott approached several different loan funds to survive before partnering with the UP Community Fund. Since the partnership, Staffwear has exceeded over 1 million in sales and has hired four new staff who on average earn up to 15/hr. Scott states, “the funding gave us the confidence and cashflow to take on the larger customers as opposed to turning down contracts.” Upfront costs to purchase materials would have completely hindered Scott’s ability to accept deals, a reality for the company prior to receiving UP funding. Securing the funding accommodated her experiences as a black woman owned organization and giving her opportunities to continue to grow and scale the business.
UP Community Funds celebrates Towanda Scott at Staff Wear Inc as a successful female entrepreneur.

Removing barriers to accessing health care and mitigating the stigma of obtaining mental health services has been a critical focus for Jamison Consultants. The UP Community Fund was critical to the minority, woman- owned company, which had previously been denied funding from several traditional financial lending institutions. Partnering with the UP Community Fund has allowed Jamison to access the funding needed to scale their business model and offerings, expand their vision, and understand the dynamics of their business model through quality technical assistance. Jamison Consultants has since expanded to six new locations throughout South Carolina and Georgia and has brought on 15 new additional staff this year, including professionally licensed clinicians, social workers, and nurse practitioners. Jamison Consultants has seen a 50% increase in its revenue and after all expenses maintains a positive cash flow. UP Community Funds celebrates Jamison Consultants as a successful business in the healthcare industry. www.upcommunityfund.com
