Some of the best things you can do for your health are completely free. 🌿

These are the small, research-backed habits I actually recommend (before we ever talk about major diet changes or supplements):

🪟 Open your windows 15 min, twice a day

☀️ Get morning sunlight in your eyes first thing

☕ Cut caffeine after noon

🧴 Reduce your plastic exposure

💧 Drink water before your coffee

Small shifts. Done consistently. They add up to a lot.

📌 Save this one for some easy wins!

“It’s just stress.”

We hear this so often — but in functional nutrition, that’s usually where the real conversation begins, not ends.

When clients come to me feeling burnt out, anxious, or just not like themselves, here are 3 things I always look at before assuming stress is the whole story:

🧬 Hormones — cortisol, thyroid, and progesterone can all mimic or worsen stress symptoms when they’re off
🩸 Nutrient status — low vitamin D, iron, B12, or folate can create stress-like symptoms even when life feels manageable
🦠 Gut health — serotonin and GABA, two of our key mood and calm regulators, rely heavily on a healthy gut environment

Often what feels like stress is actually the body signaling an underlying imbalance — and that’s something we can actually work with.

If you’ve been told it’s just stress but don’t feel like yourself, it might be worth looking a little deeper. 👇

Certain foods are more prone to mold exposure due to how they’re grown, stored, and processed — especially coffee, wine, beer, corn, peanuts, wheat, chocolate, and dried fruit.

Even organic versions aren’t automatically low in mold or mycotoxins. The bigger differences often come down to farming conditions, storage moisture, and manufacturing/testing practices.

If you’re trying to reduce exposure, some brands do test for mycotoxins or use processes that may help reduce mold risk:

Feeling overwhelmed? 😅 Start by focusing on reducing your total burden — not eliminating foods or aiming for perfection.

A lot of people assume nutritionists care about perfect diets, cutting out every “bad” food, and never eating dessert 👀

Honestly? I care much more about:
✨ consistency
✨ overall digestive health
✨ nourishment
✨ stress + sleep
✨ variety
✨ & building habits you can actually sustain

Food quality matters, but perfection isn’t the goal.

In my practice as a functional nutritionist, I often see people become so focused on restriction that they lose sight of the bigger picture — supporting the body in a realistic, sustainable way.

And yes… I eat dessert. ✨🧁✨
