Anxiety

I hate it. Anxiety.
And especially when it seems to consume me and I become frozen and unfocused and I can't move from the couch. So..... I thought I'd share what does help me. You're not alone here.

1) Ask people to pray.

2) Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, and exhale slowly through smooched lips for 8 seconds.

3) Do a short burst of exercise, such as jumping jacks, dancing crazy to a good song, or take a brisk walk.

4) Recognize this is just adrenaline, it is uncomfortable but not dangerous, and it will pass.

And say what is true:
"God sees me. He's not surprised by my anxiety. He has a plan to use it for the good. This too will pass. This is a promise from God."

5) Talk aloud to God (this is called prayer.

God does not see you as a problem. He sees you as a person. He reminds you:

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.
Isaiah 43:2

I'm not saying it feels good to walk through deep waters and fiery flames but you will make it through.

Just don't forget the breathing part.

Orange is the New Blessing: from busted to blessings.

Nothing is wasted with God.
