Mayra For Congress
Last night I was so excited to be surrounded by Democrats on John’s Island at the Progressive Pours meetup. What a beautiful district SC01 is - full of amazing people who care and want to make positive change in their community. I met John, who registered voters in the morning and came to hear from candidates in the evening. I met Ray, who wants to see more support for Labor and working families in Congress.
So many more conversations were happening around me about the excitement amongst Democrats this midterm. We are facing unprecedented times and it brings me so much joy to see people wanting to fight back. They inspire me to run this race and win this seat so that we can send a fighter to Washington.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Nick Reagan on the We The Palmetto podcast today. We had a great chat, and talked about a lot of different things, including making the Lowcountry into a global business hub. 10/10, would do it again.
The episode isn't up yet, but keep an eye on the link, and check it out once it's posted!

South Carolina Redistricting and the Limits of Coalition Politics BLACKPRESSUSA - As South Carolina Republicans redraw congressional maps and dilute Black voting power, a deeper question is emerging inside Democratic politics: What happens when coalition language and coalition interests stop aligning?

Mayra understands whose shoulders she’s standing on and isn’t pretending otherwise.
Are we really in the same boat?
I asked her that directly.
“Only if we are rowing in the same direction.”

Today we honor mothers in every form: biological, adoptive, foster, chosen, and every woman who nurtures, guides, and loves without condition.
We celebrate the women raising children, caring for aging parents, mentoring young people, and carrying the quiet burdens that so often go unnoticed. Black mothers, Latina mothers, Asian mothers, Indigenous mothers, immigrant mothers, military mothers, single mothers, LGBTQ+ families; your strength is powerful, your compassion is transformative, and your love is lasting.
Happy Mother's Day. Thank you for everything you do, every single day.
It's not a win if you have to change the rules to get there. Let your current representatives know that you don't support the gerrymandering, and make sure you vote in the primary for candidates like myself, who support free and fair elections for all!
